My Grandfather was the 1st Lieutenant who served in the Air Force. He went in after he graduated from the University of Illinois. He served his country from 1941-1945. He fought in World War II and was stationed in the Hawaiian Islands, and the South Pacific Islands.

My Grandfather met my Grandmother while he stationed in the Hawaiian Islands. His bunk mate was dating my grandmother at the time. My grandfather saw a picture at how beautiful she was and started writing to her. They both exchanged photos of each other and continued to write until he was released from the Air Force. They then married and were married for 62 years. My grandfather sadly passed away May 10, 2008. He was a wonderful, intelligent man, who I very much looked up to. He will never be forgotten.
